Hasan Rizvi to launch ‘Naach’ – All Night Mix
Hasan Rizvi, renowned choreographer/performer and CEO of BodyBeat Productions, is launching his dance video ‘Naach – All Night Mix’ on Eid across social and electronic media.
With a view to introducing a radical dance video with an edgy, raw and modern appeal, Rizvi has partnered this time round with Seher Usman Alavi of Pheonix Productions to give viewers an inspired, never-seen-before choreography. Far removed from commercial, mainstream choreography and music, this video has Usman venturing into a groundbreaking concept, with gothic and industrial look.
It may be recalled that earlier in April, Rizvi launched Pakistan’s first dance video ‘Naach’ with great fanfare, in an attempt to promote the dance industry. The video focused on hip-hop and Bollywood dance and was well received, especially by the more traditional schools of thought. However, Rizvi felt the need to reach out to a more eclectic audience and to choreograph a dance that would be challenging in more ways than one.
Rizvi says, “I wanted to do something that was challenging. And then one day while lying in bed, brainstorming, it suddenly came to me that the entire video would feature dancers performing while lying down.”
Not knowing how challenging it would be in terms of execution, Rizvi and Alavi then concentrated on finding a DJ who would be able to convert the original ‘Naach’ song from pop to electro-hip hop. Shoaib and Rafay Rashidi aka Rashidi brothers, the well-known DJs that play music and own their own record label across North America and Europe were approached for the purpose. They were asked to remix the song into something more modern and Western without completely deviating from the original track.
According to the Rashidi brothers, “The remix to Hasan Rizvi’s ‘Naach’ is a re-imagined, bouncy, edgy, stomping work of music, which captures the essence of a universal ideology, bringing us together under the art form known as ‘dance’. The ‘Naach’ All Night Mix is an essential remix to the original track of Pakistan’s renowned choreographer, Rizvi. Suhaib’s electronic music revamps the everlasting appeal of a simple dhol, the melody of the payal, and the soothing vocals combined with a groovy bass-line and tribal fever.”
To give this edgy dance video the look it required, Rana Khan, the well-known stylist who recently flew to Morocco for Pakistan’s first shoot with Ayaz Anis and Aamina Shiekh, and was nominated in the Lux Style Awards, was roped in. The stylist says, “Prepare to embark on a riveting musical journey as the ‘Naach’ All Night Mix is guaranteed to make everyone naach.” staff report
