MI- RAQSAM – Review
Written by Hina Abro
Jidhar Hey Tu Udher Hey Ishq,
Jaavedan Hey Ammar Hey Ishq.
Mi Raqsam, another excellent creation of A&B Production, is probably the most spellbinding ode to the beauty and simplicity of love. Directed by Sabiha Sumar and Written by Kifayat Rodini, the drama depicts the love story of Zeeshan (Shahzad Shaikh) and Saadia (Aiza Khan) – a romance which is shred to pieces by the gruesome and gory of society and parents who still thinks love is nothing but a mental disorder and offcourse assume that no one can better decide their children future than them. The irony is, we live in the society where parents make children habitual of making choices, from choosing a chocolate to what clothes to wear, but when it comes to the key decisions like career choices and marriage, they react stubborn and stern.
Mi Raqsam showcases famous actors such as Salman Shahid, Waseem Abbas and Rashid Farooqui. The drama starts off as a tender series of events revolving around two childhood friends and ill-fated lovers, Zeeshan and Sadia. Zeeshan is the eight year old son of a corrupt bureaucrat, leading a miserable life due to forlorn relationship of his parents. His father remains busy in an illicit liaison with a woman called Mehvish (Natasha Shah) and his mother is depressed enough about her husband’s betrayal to provide her son love and attention. Zeeshan finds himself pinched towards his driver’s daughter Sadia, who is not only his playfellow, but also confidant. The turn of events hurls Zeeshan as his mother dies after his going away to boarding school and his father marries Mehvish. The story takes turn when childhood friends grow up to the inseparable lovers, but fate takes a topsy turvy twist, and Sadia’s father( Rashid Farooqi) arranges the marriage of his daughter without even letting her know to a old age Molvi sahib( Salman Shahid) who already has three wife. The terrible thing is that his father also remarries to a minor girl in exchange of his daughter.
It primarily highlights the pathos of society, who ever think that this type of things do not happen in 21st century, I would ask them to travel to interior or rather use Google. We seem to have extremism ubiquitously in Pakistan, extremism even in everyday things. Sadia is now devastated by the loss of the peaceful love she once shared with Zeeshan. The drama indeed seems to be very promising, in promos its glimpse remind me of Khuda or Mohabbat, as few things seems to be common.
This Drama is Romantic Genre tragedy with an excellent soundtrack composed by Waqar Ali and sung by Rizwan Moazzam and Hina Nasarullah.
Zarray Zarray Me Usi Ka Noor Hai,
Jhank Khud Me Wo Na Tujh Se Door Hai,
Ishq Hai Us Se To Sab Se Ishq Kar,
Is Ibadat Ka Ye He Dastoor Hai,
Is Me Us Me Aur Us Me Hai Wo Hai,
Zarray Zarray Me Usi Ka Noor Hai,
Yaar Mera Her Taraf Bharpoor Hai,
Deewana Waar Mi Raqsam.
