Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s 15th death anniversary Today !

Sufi song maestro‚ Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s 15th death anniversary is being observed today (16th August).

The famous signer had developed a worldwide following which is even after so many years of his passing persists today.

Born in a Faisalabad family known for its Qawwali traditions, Khan took no time to master his family skill. He has a world record for the largest number of recorded output by a Qawwali artist, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.

Besides Punjabi and Urdu‚ Khan also sang in Hindi‚ Braj Bhasha – a dialect of Hindi – and Persian, Radio Pakistan reported.

“The versatile musician not only sang for Pakistani films but also contributed to Bollywood in the films Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya and Kachche Dhaage as well as the title song for the film Dhadkan.”

Khan passed away on August 16‚ 1997 in London at the age of 48 after a prolong illness.
