Overload, completing its first “Decade Of Drumming” is going global with a one-off track “Dhol Bajay Ga” in Mira Nair’s “The Reluctant Fundamentalist”.

The Hollywood film based on Mohsin Hamid’s novel stars Keifer Sutherland, Kate Hudson and Riz Ahmed and is due to open the prestigious Venice Film Festival on August 23. “It feels great the composition has been picked up by a film of this caliber. It shows that Pakistan music is a crowed puller,” Farhad Humayun says.

Lydia Pilcher of Cine Mosaic, producers of The Reluctant Fundamentalist, paid Overload an undisclosed amount of money for the use of their track while discussing the possibility of future collaborations with Farhad Humayun in New York last week. The deal marks international recognition of the band’s ten years of music making. Overload prepares to play live at arenas across Japan and Singapore later this year. staff report
